Sculpture Exhibition in The Meadow
“Frame No. 2”
Artist Statement:
These two metal picture frames are an exploration of contrast—between form and material, tradition and nature, ornament and simplicity. Drawing inspiration from the ornate gilded frames found in classical art museums, I wanted to honor their decorative elegance while reimagining them in a raw, modern context.
Crafted from metal and displayed in an open landscape, the frames become both object and lens. They invite viewers to reconsider what is framed—sky, leaves, passersby—as shifting works of art. By placing these traditionally indoor artifacts outdoors, I aim to blur the boundaries between curated space and natural landscape, permanence and impermanence.
This work reflects my fascination with the tension between embellishment and restraint. The frames are detailed enough to recall historical opulence, yet their metal surfaces and open placement embrace a stripped-back honesty. In doing so, they ask: what happens when we frame the world itself?
